The Sea Kayaking Guide Books from Pesda Press provide an excellent material reference for a kayak journey along nearly every section of the UK coast. Each route is illustrated with maps, photographs, and detailed descriptions to help you plan your trip. The books are especially useful for their information on tides. I relied on them to time my paddles around the top of Scotland around the Pentland Firth, and around the Portland Bill where tidal currents can be ferocious.
While these books have excellent information, they can be a little bit wordy with their descriptions which you may not be interested on the water. The books are also bulky and heavy to carry with you. I found useful to have a contact on land send me screen shots of the relevant sections and maps when needed. An E-Book version of the guidebooks would be an excellent product to have on the kayak.
